HO HO HO It's The Christmas Show

The Corner Collective is holding its annual Christmas show this week. Opening on Thursday evening the 1st of December, it has a PV at 7pm and is set to be as much of a success as last year with all new festive work from resident artists and local creative friends. Watching the build-up to the show, I can tell you there are some fantastic surprises going to be available so if you still have presents to buy for loved ones or yourself then pop along to view some seriously cool gifts.

Fark has created some new badges that are in 2 designs with his distinctive seagull being one of them and as there are only 10 of each design you will have to be quick to grab yourself one. He has also created some new artwork that really brings a thoughtful touch to Pompey and also one-off pieces that really resonates with his style and brings a cool edge to his work.

Roo Abrook has collaborated with Lynn Nicholls AKA Southsea Mudlark again for a dramatic ceramic collection featuring hand-painted earthenware inspired by 17th-century delftware. Named 'Delfleur' it brings a whole new depth and progression to Roo's work. Last year the creative pair designed and made vases which sold out at the Collective show in 20 minutes and were a real hit with the public and collectors of both Roo and Lynn's work.

Mook Loves You has done a collaborative piece with This Is Midge which will be seen for the first time at the show. Both artists have a specific style and it has been fab to see these two artists grow this year in their work. Mook also has new prints for sale and there will be some small pieces for sale like the earrings that have been made at the end of November which are only £10 to buy!

There will be lots of work by other residents including Pompey Banana Club who brought out a collection of postcards this Autumn and there will be some little surprises from other local artists too.

Starting at 7pm the Collective crew are getting in the festive mood with mulled wine on the counter and homemade gingerbread, so head on down to join in the festive vibes and grab something individual and independent for Christmas.

My Dog Sighs is holding open studios from 4pm until 7pm on Thursday the 1st December so you can visit his studio, buy merchandise and see his work as well as meet the artist before heading across the road to the gallery for the show. It is the first time that MDS has opened his studio for a while and with unseen works, prints to buy, books and merchandise to purchase it offers an exciting time on Albert Road this week! Chatting to him he said "It's been 3 years since I invited anyone into my space. With the launch of some new work and the release of my new merchandise I'd love to offer the opportunity for people to come and see the mess of a working artists studio." Offering 2 late nights Thursday and Friday until 7pm and then opening Saturday and Sunday 10am until 4pm allows for plenty of browsing to take place above the Wedgewood Rooms!

The Collective show then continues at the gallery on Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd from 11am until 4pm. Then on Sunday as a special treat 11am-4pm!
