Southern Ceramic Group Show

We look forward to welcoming the Southern Ceramic Group to the corner this weekend the 17th of May. 14 members are bringing along their passion for clay and are taking over the gallery for the weekend. The group formed nearly 50 years ago, and was started by a handful of clay enthusiasts in 1975. Today there are hundreds of members that are from Hampshire and surrounding counties.

The 14 group members, including Southsea Mudlark AKA Lynn Nicholls (who has displayed work with us before), bring a wide range of pottery styles to the show. These potters and sculptors wanted to create a united group where like-minded people could share techniques and ideas. Each member's work on display will be diverse and consist of potters, sculptors, professionals and amateurs, teachers and students, collectors and enthusiasts. That's what makes a SCG show interesting!

A wide range of ceramic work will be available including sculptural, functional and fine art ceramics exploring a wide range of clays, glazes and firings such as Raku, smoke-fired, gas and electric.

From stoneware products for the home from Matt at Fatclay to developing a personal response to the natural world from Sue Kelly, there is something for everyone at this exhibition.

Art Space studio holder Southsea Mudlark (aka Lynn Nicholls) said, "It's going to be an exciting show in a brilliant location on Albert Rd. As a group, we love the ethos of The Corner Collective who support established and emerging artists by connecting art and culture to the city and beyond. We are delighted to be launching their first full ceramics show."

Make sure to pop along on Friday the 17th from 6pm until 9pm for the PV and then

Saturday 18th May 11am until 5pm
